1. How old are you?
I’m 26 🙂
2. Where are you from?
Born and raised in London, primarily in the ghetto they call Tottenham.
3. Where are you really from?
It’s hilarious but I get this a lot as I am evidently not English ethnically. Most people guess Spanish, Italian, Indian, Egyptian and Iranian. But hey ho, they’re all wrong – I’m actually Turkish! Both my parents were born in Turkey (Ankara and Istanbul for those extra curious beans) and migrated here decades ago.
4. Where and what did you study?
I did my undergraduate degree in History at the University of York in 2013, and furthered my studies by undertaking an MPhil in World History at Cambridge in 2016, finally graduating in the summer of 2017.
5. Is this your full time job?
No, not at all – I currently work at a FTSE50 company, dealing with client contract renewals. I really love what I do, but after leaving university, despite undertaking a variety of exciting jobs, I realised none of them really involved a lot of creative writing, which I genuinely started to miss. Hence this blog!
6. Where is your favourite place in the world?
At the moment, Japan is my unrivalled favourite destination. I’ve been to many parts of the world, but I have yet to come across a place with sights so beautiful, food so addictive, and people so hospitable. I’ve only been once, and have seen Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Hiroshima, and absolutely cannot wait until my next trip.
7. What camera do you use?
For a long time I used my trusty Canon EOS 700D, but increasingly I leave all the equipment behind in favour of my iPhone XS Max. There was a time when you could really tell the difference between a photo taken on a DSLR and one taken on a mobile phone, but I feel like we’re in a day and age where the quality of the mobile phone is more or less the same to the untrained eye, and I’d rather not carry a 3kg camera on days I’m walking 10 miles a day.
8. Where can I find you on social media?
I don’t use Twitter, not famous enough for that yet. 😉
